An intimate journey through 60+ studios across Bali’s cultural capital
This May, Ubud will once again transform into a living gallery as Ubud Open Studios (UOS25) returns from May 22 to 25, 2025. Now in its latest edition, this much-anticipated annual event invites art lovers, curious travelers, and cultural seekers to discover the beating heart of Ubud’s creative scene, not in white-walled galleries, but in the private studios where the work is actually made.
Over the course of three days, more than 60 artists, designers, and makers ranging from painters, photographers, and ceramicists to textile artists, wood carvers, architects, and jewelry designers, will open their studio doors to the public. Each space becomes a portal into the artist’s world, where visitors can witness the tools, materials, and personal inspirations behind the work.

Far from being a typical gallery crawl, Ubud Open Studios is an immersive, self-guided art adventure through Ubud’s lush landscapes and hidden corners. The format invites people to explore at their own pace, moving from studio to studio and engaging directly with the artists in a relaxed and personal setting. Conversations are encouraged, demonstrations often unfold spontaneously, and each interaction deepens the understanding of what it means to create in Ubud today.
What sets UOS25 apart is its commitment to authenticity and inclusivity. The event weaves together a wide spectrum of creative disciplines and cultural backgrounds, forming a vibrant tapestry that reflects Ubud’s unique identity as an international hub for artistry and innovation. For artists, it offers an opportunity to connect meaningfully with new audiences. For visitors, it provides a rare chance to see creativity in its raw, unpolished form, intimate, hands-on, and deeply human.

Ahead of the main program, UOS25 also features a Studio Showcase exhibition, giving the public a preview of what to expect during the open studio weekend. This year, the showcase will be held from May 21 to 31 at two key art venues in Ubud: BIASA ArtSpace and Nonfrasa Gallery, both located along Jalan Raya Sanggingan. Each participating artist will present one selected piece, offering visitors a curated look at the talent involved and helping them map out their personal studio visits.
The Sanggingan area, already known as a vibrant arts district, will come alive during this time as UOS25 activates the neighborhood with exhibitions, conversations, and creative energy. From emerging voices to established names, the participating studios represent the wide creative spectrum that defines contemporary Ubud.
Whether you’re an experienced collector, a design enthusiast, or simply someone looking for inspiration, Ubud Open Studios offers an unmatched opportunity to connect with the people and practices shaping Bali’s artistic future. It’s an invitation to go beyond the surface, into the spaces where creativity begins, stories unfold, and imagination takes form.
As the art world continues to embrace more personal, process-oriented experiences, Ubud Open Studios stands out as a model for what art engagement can be grounded, interactive, and deeply rooted in place.
